Rotary Club of Newport
Rotarians are service minded, and we work to improve our local and global communities. Among our many community service projects, we are known for the several thousands of dollars we provide in scholarships to Rogers High School graduating seniors and deserving CCRI Newport students every year. We also provide support and contributions to a variety of local organizations including Boys and Girls club of Newport County, Newport Public Library, Martin Luther King Center, Salvation Army and others. Our service efforts support the improvement of literacy as well as projects in education, youth service, and health initiatives.
We work both locally and globally because we believe that the world is our community. We recently worked to bring needed supplies to a burn clinic in Djbouti, Africa and we have sponsored international high school students from Chile, Germany, Belgium, and France.
Our international motto is "Service Above Self". We have found great personal satisfaction in our blend of service and fellowship.
We meet weekly and we keep our meetings short, fun and educational. Our speakers present timely and informative programs. Members are required to maintain a 50% attendance - which can be any combination of meeting time, time spent on club projects, web meetings, district committee service - even a meeting or service opportunity presented by another Rotary club anywhere in the world.
